- PETER’S INTEGRATED ROAD BIKE -

Peter commissioned his road bike only a few months after I built a beautiful gravel bike for him, unfortunately I never had the time to get the gravel bike in the studio and don’t have many photos of the finished bike.

This bike is a real testament to how impressed he was with the gravel bike. Following many gravel rides and camping trips in the Pentlands and other beautiful countryside surrounding Edinburgh and beyond, Peter took his gravel bike to Girona to ride on the road during a guided trip with Girona Bespoke. He was so impressed with how the bike was on the road, he felt he had to experience the pure greatness of a no expense spared custom road bike, needless to say, he has been very happy indeed.

Before Peter took ownership of the bike, I flew out to ‘Spoken’ in Melbourne, Aus, to show the bike to the other side of the world. The paint was one of the most spoken about things at the show that weekend. However, as always the paint on these bikes is just the tuxedo. It’s what represents each customer’s character and what they like visually. On this occasion, the paint was a reverse of the paint on his gravel bike but was applied in a completely experimental way. The way we like things and the way Jack keeps coming up with fresh new ideas.

Moving on to the frame design itself, Peter has a relatively small saddle to handlebar drop, so the head tube on the frame was quite long relative to the saddle height. To give the illusion of the bike having more visible seat tube, I lowered the seat stays a little. Both myself and Peter were super pleased with how this worked out.

The frame is built from a mix of Columbus Spirit and Life with a carbon fibre seat tube bonded into T45 aircraft tubes. The seat tube topper is also made from T45 tubing and uses Enve seat post hardware to hold the saddle firmly in place.

The bike rolls on handmade wheels - Enve 2.3 rims laced to Chris King hubs. It was designed around an Enve/Chris King ‘In-Route’ system to completely hide the brake hoses and keep the cockpit looking as clean as possible. Finished with the beautiful gloss black Shimano Dura-Ace groupset, this entire bike is nothing but a head turner.
