- STEPHEN’S TRAVEL BIKE -

Stephen and I have been in contact for about 7 years now. We originally discussed a bike build right back then, we always got on really well but the bike never got off the ground although he plays said that he would definitely be having one at some point. Since then, Stephen has built sports nutrition company SiS from a relatively small business to the success it is today. Along that journey, he has always been incredibly supportive of myself and Feather Cycles, including flowing Feather Cycles Racing with everything we needed during the 3 years existence.

Today, that dream bike from 7 years back became a reality. Stephen travels a lot with his work these days and wanted something that was built with the race geometry he was so used to, but would be easy to travel with without the need of a giant bike box. This Columbus XCr stainless steel beauty will be the ticket to just that. Using Di2, the plugs and junction boxes are located exactly where they need to be to make splitting this bike up into a 26”x26”x10” case an absolute doddle.

It was near impossible to do the paint on this one justice with the photos. the paint itself was inspired by an image by photographer, Mish Aminoff Moon, Stephen’s wife. It is the last image in the slide show and is from her abstract street photography collection in which she shoots reflections on various objects and buildings. Stephen mentioned wanting to learn Kintsugi in order to fill any chips this bike is more than likely to pick up along the way, which sparked the idea of using gold leaf for the graphics as a bit of a nod the the Japanese pottery repair technique.

I will be collecting this bike to take to Bespoked this year, so if you have been thinking about a coupled bike for yourself, this could be a great opportunity to see something really quite special for yourself.

Now I just look forward to hearing about the journeys this bike takes and the rides it takes Stephen on once it gets there.

Keep your eyes peeled over the next year or so for something extra special Stephen and Myself are going to work in tribute to the late, great and legendary Dario Pegoretti!
